About the Concert Series

PrintThe St. John’s Summit Concert Series aims to bring a diverse array of music to the local communities surrounding Summit, New Jersey. The performances offer residents the opportunity to see and hear musicians — from local mainstays to internationally recognized professionals musicians – in an intimate setting, providing an incomparable experience. The SJSCS is a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports itself through the generosity of its Friends of Music and through the sale of tickets to attend performances.

Our Mission is to bring a variety of musical genres to the surrounding community that will appeal to a broad audience, regardless of faith, background or tradition. We view this series as a ministry through the universal gift of music.

The 2016-17 Season

Sunday, October 2, 3:00 pm (reception to follow)

The Zukerman Trio, headed by world-class violinist Pinchas Zukerman, will open the third season of the St. John’s Summit Concert Series. In addition to piano trios by Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Dvorak, and Shostakovich, the Zukerman Trio’s programs often include duo performances with various couplings. Read more

Internationally recognized Wei Luo began piano lessons at age 5, and has since become a prodigy. Only 17 years old, she has performed major concertos and studied at some of the top conservatories around the world. SJSCS is excited to welcome her. Read more

Sunday, February 12, 3:00 pm (reception to follow)

The West Point Glee Club, with their uniforms and their presence, are instantly recognizable. They have brought their distinctive voices to some of the country’s biggest stages: Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, and even the Super Bowl. In February, they will bring their dazzling performance to Summit, New Jersey.

Last year, the SJSCS was treated to a brilliant performance by jazz pianist Emmet Cohen and the Emmet Cohen Trio. The audience raved, and we responded. Back for a second performance, Emmet will be joined by special guest jazz trumpeter and vocalist Benny Benack III for “An evening of Sinatra.” Read more
