The Hinman Scholarship was established to honor the Reverend Dr. Willis S. Hinman and Erma Hinman, who served St. John’s Lutheran Church from 1930 to 1964. The purpose of the fund is to make funds available to members of the congregation to help continue their formal education after high school.
The maximum annual amount of money distributed to the recipient will not exceed $1,000 per year. The potential recipients will complete an application along with a written summary of what St. John’s has taught them that will help in their college or post graduate experience as well as a description of their church and community activities. There are no financial or GPA requirements. The recipients will be encouraged to make a charitable contribution to the fund in the future to make this benefit available to other members of St. John’s.
