St. John’s Social Ministry strives to lead the members of the congregation,
both individually and corporately,
to witness their faith through commitment
to serve the needs of our community, nation, and world.
- Write letters to both State and Federal legislators to urge action on issues relating to hunger and poverty
- Visit local members of congress to discuss issues important to the ELCA
- Participate in Prayer Vigils at the Elizabeth Detention Center
- Participate in other state-wide advocacy events with leadership from the NJ Synod Justice and Peace Mission Team
