Advocacy

St. John’s Social Ministry strives to lead the members of the congregation,
both individually and corporately,
to witness their faith through commitment
to serve the needs of our community, nation and world.

  • Write letters to both State and Federal legislators to urge action on issues relating to hunger and poverty
  • Visit local members of congress to dis-cuss issues important to the ELCA
  • Participate in Prayer Vigils at the Elizabeth Detention Center
  • Participate in other state-wide advocacy events with leadership from the NJ Synod Justice and Peace Mission Team
