The 1619 Project: The Anti-Racism Committee will be hosting the final episode on Monday, October 2, 7:00 PM. This week’s episode will look at the place of justice/injustice in American race relations. This week’s tasting menu includes: jambalaya, corn fritters, and peach cobbler.

Art Bauer Committal & Memorial Service, October 8 at the conclusion of the 10:30 service. There will be a memorial service at 3:00 PM at Cedar Crest Chapel, Pompton Plains.

Charlie Connelly Funeral, Saturday, October 14 at 11:00 AM at St. John’s.

Partnership Sunday, at St. Stephan’s Grace Community in Newark, October 15 at 3:00 PM. A delegation of leaders from the Brazilian Lutheran Church will be in attendance. SJSM Book Discussion, October 22:The Social Justice/Social Ministry committee will be discussing their fall reading, Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City, by author Matthew Desmond on October 22 at 9:00 AM. Books are available in the church office for $12.

Dunkin’ or Starbucks Gift Cards are needed for college care packages. Please drop off $10 cards in the church office by October 22. If you have a college student, please contact Jama Bowman with their address.

NJ Synod Youth Retreat, November 17–19 at the Sheraton Edison. All youth grades 6–12 and are invited for a weekend of faith, fellowship, and fun! This year’s theme is REJOICE! The cost is $225 per person and includes hotel, meals, t-shirt, snacks and programming. Register in the weekly email by October 30, 2023.
