Hurricane Relief Update: Thanks to your generosity, we were able to give $18,000 to the following ministry partners: Family Promise of Union County, St. Stephan’s in Newark and Bethlehem New Orleans. Thank you !

SJSM Movie Night: Our next St. John’s Social Justice movie will be on Saturday, October 16. We’ll address the dual issues of climate change and income inequality by watching the 2012 film “Beasts of the Southern Wild, which is set in the Mississippi Delta.” We’ll gather starting at 6:30 PM, with the film set to start at 7:00 in the back parking lot (with Hinman Hall as backup in case of rain). In addition, we’d like to ask congregants to fill out this social justice survey.

Youth Group meets October 17 at 7:00 PM. Middle School and High School youth welcome.

Consecration Sunday is October 24. On this day we will dedicate of 2022 Financial Pledge Cards. You are invited to a Consecration Brunch at 9:00 AM hosted by the Stewardship Committee. Please plan to be in worship that day, at the brunch, and prayerfully consider how God is calling you to use your resources for the mission and ministry of the church.

Remembrance of the Faithful Departed: Each year on All Saints Day we remember those who have died in the past year. You are invited to submit names of any loved ones or friends who have died in the past year. For more information or to submit a name please email Pastor Blake. Names must be submitted by October 31.

Market Street Mission Coat Giveaway: Donations of coats, hats, scarves or gloves for men, women, and children, may be brought to St. John’s by October 31.

Jehu Jones Bishop Challenge: Every congregation has been challenged to help the NJ Synod raise $50,000 to support the lives of emerging leaders of African descent in our church today; Our council has set our goal at $3,750 by the end of 2021 and the Anti-Racism Committee will match our goal dollar for dollar. Please make donations to St. John’s, memo “Jehu Jones.”
