Summit Warm Hearts: To care for our homeless neighbors in need, the Summit Interfaith Council (SIC) has created a program, Summit Warm Hearts, of emergency housing in houses of worship during the cold winter months. Saint John's will begin hosting Thursday and Friday nights, starting November 17– March 10. Guests will stay in Hinman Hall and the Adult Lounge from 8:00 PM–6:00 AM. The SIC has hired vetted, trained and insured overnight hosts to be present during the hosting. We join Christ Church and Fountain Baptist, along with Beacon UU as the day center and shower facility, in hosting this program. There will be more information in the future about how we can support this life-saving ministry.

RIC Movie Night: The SJSM committee will be hosting a movie night, Saturday, November 19 at 7:00 PM, The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson. Popcorn and post-movie discussion included!

Thanksgiving Potluck, November 20: Join us after the 10:30 AM service to celebrate Thanksgiving. We will provide the turkeys, you bring your favorite Thanksgiving dish to share with your church family.

Youth Group meeting will be on Sunday, November 20 at 5:00 PM. We will be headed to the grocery store to purchase food for the Maplewood Community Fridge with dinner afterwards. Contact Stephanie Rothman or Kirsten Meyers for details.

Advent begins Sunday, November 27. Watch for Advent booklets in the mail. Devotional booklets are available at church. We will have Intergenerational Faith Formation from 9:00-10:00 AM on Sundays, including preparing for the Christmas Bridges Run of 200 sustainable lunches. There will be special services: Lessons & Carols (December 4) and Blue Christmas (December 20). The Advent sale will be available each Sunday. We will need volunteers to help decorate the church on December 18 and caroling at 4:00 PM.

Sign up for sustainable lunch donations to support the work of Bridges. Sunday, December 18 at 9:00 AM we will have a fun intergenerational event packing 200 lunch bags. Please see the weekly email to sign up for donations. Collection will begin on November 27 and items must be delivered to church by 8:00 AM on December 18.
