Children’s Choir rehearsals resume TODAY, 9:30 to 10:00 AM in the Choir Room. All children ages 4 and up are welcome and invited to join us. In her role as a mother of a trans youth and a trans rights educator, as well as a life-long Lutheran in our synod, Jamie will share with us her unique insights about inclusion and justice for queer people.

Appalachia Service Project Youth Mission Trip to repair substandard housing to make it warmer, safer, and drier, is being planned for July 8–15, 2023 (one week later than usual), and we hope to be assigned to Tennessee (9-10 hours from Summit). At this time we are looking for interested youth who have completed 8th grade and are at least 14 years old by the time of the trip, and adults who have an interest in home repair and leading our youth. Contact Laura Snyder by November 1 for more information and to express interest.

Book Discussion: Join the Anti-Racism Committee on Sunday, November 6 at 9:00 AM for their second book discussion on The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee.

Thanksgiving Potluck, November 20: Join us after the 10:30 AM service to celebrate Thanksgiving. We will provide the turkeys, you bring your favorite Thanksgiving dish to share with your church family.

Lutheran Summer Music (LSM), June 25–July 23. As the nation’s premier faith-based music academy this four-week, immersive residential performance and training program is for grades 8-12. Students participate in large ensembles (band, choir, orchestra) and chamber music; receive lessons on primary and secondary instruments; and enroll in electives such as chapel choir, church music, handbells, composition, jazz band, conducting, musical theatre, and more. Fiesta Latina: We are a sponsor for Summit’s annual celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. We will welcome the Reverend Dr. R. Guy Erwin, President and Ministerium of Pennsylvania Chair at the United Lutheran Seminary to Saint John's on September 18. Dr. Erwin will be the guest preacher at both services and will lead an adult forum at 9:00 AM.

Our Appalachia Service Project volunteers are overwhelmed by the response of St. John’s members and visitors to our “Peace by Piece” fundraiser. You all helped us ‘repair’ our model house and raised $5040 for our upcoming trip to McDowell County, WV. Thank you very much for your generosity and ongoing support of 22 years for this worthwhile and rewarding mission trip. Pride Sunday, June 26: Next Sunday we will be honoring Pride month in worship. We serve an inclusive God who call us to fully embrace LGBTQIA+ people in the life of the Church. Our Social Justice Social Ministry Committee will be making a special announcement.

ASP Fundraiser: For the month of June, ASP volunteers will be on hand on Sundays to assist you in participating in the Piece by Peace Fundraiser, our only fundraiser this year. Come help us “repair a house” (model) by “purchasing” siding, windows, decking, roofing, etc. to make it warmer, safer, and drier! Items are $10 and up, but any donation will be accepted.

The Church Office will be closed on July 4 & 5 in observance of July 4th.
